NCEA uses data provided by the Texas Education Agency in order to compile the Just for the Kids Higher Performing lists. The following data issues are reasons why your school cannot be included in the higher performing analysis:

  • Too much masking (records with empty fields).
  • Too few students.
  • School must be open for each of the three years included in the analysis.
  • The school's grade span includes a grade for which test data was not provided.
Schools Not Making the List

There are a couple of reasons why a school may not make NCEA's Just for the Kids Higher Performing Schools Lists:

  • School's percentile rank in NCEA's performance criteria not high enough to be included.
  • Not consistent performance across the three years included in the analysis.
  • Did not meet state standards
    • Did not get at least acceptable on state rating in latest year.
    • For math/reading, did not make AYP in the latest year.
    • For other subjects, did not test at least 90 percent of students in latest year.
