State AffiliatesBelieving that strength comes from numbers, NCEA is fortunate to work with JFTK affiliate partners in states across the country to ensure JFTK information, tools and services are made available to the communities that need them. National and state resources for Just for the Kids are accessible through this Web site, using the select-a-state dropdown menu at upper right. The "model" JFTK affiliate includes a project leader from the State Department of Education, a research partner (often State Colleges of Education), and representation from a Business/Education coalition or other community partner. Affiliate partnerships empower JFTK by developing a grassroots impact that helps to accelerate academic improvement within a state. Partnerships play a vital role in leading, managing and promoting JFTK school improvement resources to educators, business leaders, policy makers and parents. Supported by NCEA, affiliates lead efforts in their states to promote data analysis and public sharing of results; to conduct best practice studies and use the findings as the foundation for professional development for educators (especially those not making Adequate Yearly Progress); and to ensure that data analysis is an integral part of local and state school improvement initiatives. We also consider our affiliates to be our first line collaborators in nationally led projects designed to raise academic standards and achievement in public education.
